PASSION HELPS BUSINESSES GROW
CALEDON EAST, ON - So,
you want to become a small business owner? BUT...the thought of it is very
scary and stressful. Whether your company will succeed or fail is always
on your mind.
So what makes a small business a success? There are the obvious reasons:
good product or service, a need for that product or service, and, of
course, unbeatable customer service. Not having some of these can make or
break a business.
But, there is one important factor that
could be the most important contributor to a successful small
business.....PASSION! No matter how good your product is, if you don't
have that feeling, deep in your gut, that you can be a success, you may be
on the road to failure.
To illustrate how having passion can
contribute to your success, we spoke to Janice Byer, founder of Docu-Type
Administrative Services, an office assistance company that specializes in
off-site word processing, desktop publishing and website development.
During the process of compiling this
article, her passion for her work was more than obvious.
"I'm having a blast being a small
business owner", she said when asked what it is like to own and run
her own company. "Like most of us who spent years working for someone
else I followed what others told me to do. All the time having ideas that
had to sit on the back burner. My creativity was stifled, to say the
least."
"Then, after many years of running my
father's local lawn care company, and with him deciding to retire, I
decided that there was no way I could go back to work for a large company.
I wanted to be my own boss."
"So, I started researching what I
wanted to do when, one day, it just clicked...I can do exactly what I have
done for the past fifteen years, but, do it from my home and for many
companies, not just one."
Thus, Docu-Type Administrative Services was born and, as Janice likes to
call it "her baby" is growing faster than her daughter. "My
client base is rapidly expanding and have had nothing but words of praise
from each and every one of my clients".
The sparkle in her eye as she talks about
her accomplishments is enough to motivate any small business owner to
succeed. "Although my company is still in the early stages, which can
be stressful and busy, I am loving every minute of it. I have a passion
for what I do and I feel that that passion not only motivates me to take
on the world, it also makes me feel great inside. Feeling good inside
radiates outside, and what better confidence builder to our clients or
potential clients could there be. If they see that we are happy, confident
and passionate about what we do, they will realize the benefits of dealing
with a true professional who will treat each and every client like they
are our number one client. Wouldn't that type of service keep you coming
back?"
"Although I have said it a number of
times, I want to say it again...I love being a small business owner and I
recommend to anyone that has a dream to be a small business owner (or
anything else for that matter) to GO FOR IT!. Things may be tight to start
and at some times you may feel that you are taking more steps back than
forward, but they are only baby steps back and the forward steps will
become leaps."

the amount of times the phone rang while trying to compile this article,
others must like her attitude as well.

words to those thinking of starting their own businesses, she didn't
hesitate in answering "GO FOR IT and enjoy the ride! The ongoing
accomplishments and successes will be better that anything you have ever
experienced....well, almost anything (haha)!"
